FUNK DA FAVELA
Funk da Favela is my master’s thesis, which takes the form of an editorial research publication exploring funk carioca, its origins, and its social and cultural impact within Brazilian favelas. The project examines this genre both as a musical movement and as a broader sociopolitical expression. The publication is conceived as a printed research object, where the layout becomes an extension of the subject. Complex structures, rhythm, and layered compositions enrich the reading experience and reflect the depth of the subject, positioning editorial design as a tool for analysis, transmission, and cultural interpretation.
